Health Benefits of Popcorn

This snack, when air popped is only about 30 calories per cup and if you pop it in oil it’s about 35 calories per cup.  It’s a whole grain, additive free and sugar free. It has virtually no fat and no cholesterol.   Once ounce of popped pop corn has about 4 grams of fiber.

Popcorn is best stored in the refrigerator which helps to retain the moisture needed for effective popping. In fact popcorn needs to retain 13.5% moisture in order to pop to its maximum potential.

Never make popcorn in plain brown paper bags because the bags are produced with chemicals not intended to be heated.  Only use specially made microwave bags or a microwave popcorn maker.
